A historic Danish autumn tradition where over 160 horseback riders navigate a challenging obstacle course through the royal Dyrehaven park, watched by 40,000 spectators.
About this event
Dating back to 1900, the Hubertus Hunt is a famous cross-country horse race named after St. Hubertus, the patron saint of hunters. Taking place in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed hunting landscape of Dyrehaven, the event draws over 40,000 spectators annually. More than 160 skilled riders dressed in traditional red coats and white trousers race through a 13-kilometer course packed with natural obstacles, log jumps, and terrain challenges. The absolute highlight of the hunt is the passage through the infamous "Magasindammen" (Magasinet Pond), where riders must jump over a fence placed directly before a deep water obstacle—frequently resulting in dramatic and chilly splashdowns. The event concludes in front of the Royal Hermitage Hunting Lodge (Eremitageslottet), often attended by members of the Danish Royal Family.
